5G may reduce bone strength
A new study shows that exposure to the 3.5 GHz frequency used in 5G reduces bone strength and flexibility in animal experiments, even though the exposure was well below ICNIRP limits that supposedly protect against all health risks. In addition, increased oxidative stress was observed in skeletal muscle tissues.
3.the 5 GHz frequency is the frequency that is widely used today for 5G in cities and towns. Although 5G has been deployed and launched since 2020, there are still few studies on the effects of 5G, especially on the complex combination of different frequencies, modulations and fast pulses that people are exposed to in real life due to 5G deployment.
The new study was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University in Turkey. It is one of the few studies to date to examine the effects of 5G’s 3.5 GHz frequency. The researchers exposed experimental animals (rats) to 1.6 W/m2 of radiation every day for 2 hours for 30 days, which means that the radiation was significantly lower than the ICNIRP limits of 10 W/m2 for an average of 6 minutes. For the study of effects on diabetes, one group of exposed and unexposed rats consisted of diabetic rats.
The researchers focused on examining the effects of 3.5 GHz on skeletal muscle tissue and on bone. Bone is composed primarily of two composite materials made up of minerals and collagen. The mechanical properties of these materials differ: minerals give the bone strength, while collagen gives it resistance to mechanical forces, durability and some flexibility.
Previous research has shown that similar radiation has adverse effects on various tissues and that bone tissue is sensitive to radiation. For example, scientists have observed a reduction in the mineral content of bone after irradiation at 1.8 GHz.
Reduced bone strength
Exposure to 3.5 GHz radiation for two hours a day for 30 days at a power of 1.6 W/m2 caused a reduction in both bone elasticity and strength in healthy rats. The ICNIRP limits applied by most governments and recommended by WHO are much higher, 10 W/m2 for an average of 6 minutes.
The results obtained also suggest a reduction in bone mineralisation and bone tissue resistance.
The researchers also observed evidence that radiation exposure causes oxidative stress in skeletal muscle, and these negative effects were greater in diabetic animals.
Researchers’ conclusion
The researchers concluded that the study demonstrated that exposure to 3.5 GHz radiation can have negative effects on bone biomechanics. Diabetic rats may be more susceptible to dangerous effects, and significant changes in oxidative stress parameters were observed. These observations suggest that exposure to 3.5 GHz may potentially compromise bone quality and structural integrity and affect oxidative stress parameters in rat muscle. Further research is needed to investigate the potential effects on human health, particularly in humans with pre-existing health problems.
Previous 5G studies
In October 2022, the same research group published the results of a similar animal study with the same exposure to a 3.5 GHz frequency that was modulated by GSM: for 30 days, this study was conducted 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. The exposure caused an increased incidence of damaged nerve cells, which the researchers believe could lead to dementia in the long term. It also affected various hormones that have a protective effect on the nervous system.
The first three case studies on the health effects of 5G were published between January and April 2023 and were conducted by Mona Nilsson from the Swedish Radiation Protection Foundation in collaboration with researcher Dr Lennart Hardell from the Swedish Research Foundation for Environment and Cancer. The three case studies showed that the installation of 5G stations caused symptoms of microwave syndrome and in several cases the symptoms were so severe that continued stay in the home became impossible for the people studied. Studies have also shown that the installation of 5G stations near people’s homes leads to extremely high levels of radiation, well above levels previously shown to cause similar symptoms following exposure to previous generations of mobile phones (2G, 3G).
As far as we know, there are no studies to show that 5G does not cause harmful health effects. 5G, once introduced, forcibly exposes people to radiation in their own homes without any prior research on the impact on human and animal health. the 430 scientists and doctors who have signed the 5G call have rightly pointed out that there is no research on the effects of 5G and have therefore called for a moratorium on 5G, as it should first be ensured that 5G does not harm human health and the environment.
