DGC and PLF: When You Become A Health Threat,
And Removing Your Rights A Formality

Dear European friends,

Last week, the European Parliament voted for a new health control system incorporating medical certificates which you will carry on your phone: the Digital Green Certificate (DGC). The proposal will now move to its final stage when negotiations are held with the European Council and the Commission.

Simultaneously, the EU has introduced a tracking device for citizens to enable their 'house-arrest': the Passenger Locator Form (PLF).

So, before travelling, you'll have to use the DGC to prove you're not a threat to public health, by presenting a negative test result, for example. Then the government will use the PLF to decide whether you become a threat again, by sharing a plane with a Covid-positive passenger for example.

Soon you might no longer be able to travel freely or have command over your own body. The whole thing was voted at an incredible speed as it was said to be 'the only way to reopen the economy'.  It's incomprehensible that no cost analysis has been provided. Some PCR tests costs about 50 euros and if one would need 3 or 4 of them to go on holiday, how is this even sustainable?

Fortunately, more and more citizens are doing a great job at waking up politicians to the dangers and the absurdity of this. It seems an MEP (Donato), even 'corrected' her vote after reading the comments on the tweet in which she announced her vote in favor of the green pass.

Individual actions matter, even if the course of things hasn't changed yet.
