Click here WHO Pandemic Treaty: Our Fundamental Freedoms at Risk Why policymakers should reject the “new WHO” – debate about IHR Amendments and WHO “CA+” At the upcoming 76th World Health Assembly (WHA), (at least) 307 amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) and the zero draft of the Pandemic Preparedness and Response (treaty) will be presented for proceedings marking the beginning of the final period while sovereign states can still step back from handing over control to the unelected organisation of WHO. The WHO Reform document and recent statement issued by G20 leaders indicate that the concept goes way beyond public health concerns and is designed to be suitable for any autocratically declared potential crises and their solution expanded by the ”One Health” agenda. The Amendments to the IHR would enable the WHO and partners to make the new Pandemic Industry permanent, the WHO ‘CA+’ (treaty) is clearly aiming to secure the global governance and resources without liability, or democratic principles attached. The final draft of the WHO Pandemic Treaty is expected to be presented in July 2024 at the 77th World Health Assembly. Member states will then have 10 months to either ratify or reject the proposals. The secrecy of negotiations and what has been publicly discussed has already raised concerns that the Pandemic Treaty together with the IHR Amendments will strip members of their sovereignty and take control over people and resources. The WHO Pandemic Treaty: our fundamental freedoms at riskA few MEP’s in the European Parliament convened a conference to share understanding, debate risks and step up to the challenge by revealing the implications of the ”new WHO” design. Children’s Health Defense (CHD) Europe together with its advisors and independent experts readily took the opportunity to voice their concerns while searching for solutions. The MEP’s and invited speakers shared their perspectives and reiterated that both the Draft Treaty and the IHR amendments need to be scrutinized to understand the threat the current drafts and amendments pose to the principles of our democratic societies. The conference was held by MEPs; Virginie Joron (FR), Francesca Donato (IT), Mislav Kolakusic (HR), Ivan Vilibor Sincic (HR), Cristian Terhes (RO), Sylvia Limmer (DE), Stasys Jakeliunas (LT). Guest speakers were Wolfgang Wodarg MD, David Bell PhD, Dr Silvia Behrendt and Philipp Kruse LL.M. Albert Bourla CEO of Pfizer and Director-General of the WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus were both invited but declined their invitations. Donate to CHD Europe |
